Then every now and then one comes along that I kind of get keen for - no it wasn't beer draught specials with the rugby or tickets to Kings of Leon - it was better, perfect for 6 males mates, an Indian cuisine cooking course with Karma Korporate. How could we turn down this opportunity for A-grade male banter?

Karma Pineslopes - something different for a mid-week jol

It is now 3 'o clock in the afternoon and my fingers still smell like a mixture of Garam Masala, Tumeric and a good 5 or 6 other spices I learnt the names of last night. Really though, I highly recommend this whether its a bunch of mates, a quieter couple, or a corporate team build. 6 of us arrived at Pineslopes shopping centre at the Karma restaurant, where staff greeted us with welcome drinks and soon we were ushered into the kitchen, dished out chefs hats with names on them and then we were in pairs.

Each pair is designated 2 dishes, mains or starters, or both- then the fun begins. A chef walks around making sure you aren't burning your face on hot oil or throwing mustard seeds at your spouse, and also checks that you are on track with your Methi Mushrooms, while you dig in and have fun. Measurement dishes and spoons are provided but you'll find it a lot more fun just throwing things in - after all it is you and your fellow students who have to eat the end product later for dinner.

A cash bar means that beers and wine formed a significant part of the night - and strangers become cooking and sharing buddies soon enough!

Recipes are also emailed to you afterwards so that you can try out the dishes you didn't get to cook at a later stage. This 3 hour evening really shows how easy it is to cook great Indian food while having a good laugh, and it would make a great gift as well.

Finally...they came...they played..they conquered. Lights guided 50,000 Coldplay fans in their various forms of transport (be it park and ride, park and train or just park) to Soccer City and back home again after an emotional few hours out in Soweto.

If ever you thought you'd seen a mindblowing act - I hope you were there on Saturday night 8 October to lift your live music standards. Chris Martin's interactive persona and the entire bands ability to hold a crowd whether with a hard rocking 'Para-para-paradiiiise' or the hauntingly beautiful 'Fix You' - are incredible.

Giant balloons bounced around on the heads of fans in field standing, while lasers and smoke created an effect overhead that kept even the furthest flung seats in the act! Fireworks lit up the sky, reminding those of you who never made it...what you missed!

I'm still buzzing from the excitement that this amazing act managed to create inside of me - leaving you with butterflies, a glowing smile on the face of many, and longing for more. Indeed...the hardest part was letting go!
